Happy Money is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to build Beacon, an intelligence platform designed to improve student well-being and retention. In this role, you will turn complex data into actionable insights for institutions, working at the intersection of product, engineering, and strategy.
What You'll Do
- Build data products for population insights that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for Care Teams and partnering schools.
- Develop the data platform across the care lifecycle, building infrastructure that supports identifying student needs, recommending pathways, and escalation.
- Validate impact with Product and Clinical partners by defining success metrics and validating the efficacy of insights and interventions.
- Drive scalable, technology-enabled improvement by applying solutions that deepen understanding of each student while supporting a rapidly growing population.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related field, including delivering analytics, models, or data products used in production.
- Experience working in healthcare, education, fintech, or other regulated or data-sensitive industries.
- Demonstrated experience applying data science in a product-driven context to inform product direction or business decisions.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis.
- Solid grounding in statistical analysis and experimental thinking.
- Proven ability to communicate insights and analytical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience working closely with Product, Engineering, Design, or Clinical partners.
- High degree of self-direction and accountability.
Nice to Have
- Experience applying natural language processing techniques or working with large language models.
- Experience supporting analytics or machine-learning systems in production, including validation and monitoring.
- Familiarity with data visualization & BI tools such as Looker or Tableau.
- An advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering).
