About the Role
This position involves providing expert legal guidance on data privacy, security frameworks, and regulatory compliance. The attorney will support clients with policy development, incident response planning, and compliance with domestic and international data protection laws.
Responsibilities
- Advise on compliance with global data privacy regulations including GDPR, CCPA, and other regional laws
- Assist in drafting and reviewing data processing agreements and privacy policies
- Support incident response efforts related to data breaches and cybersecurity incidents
- Provide counsel on cross-border data transfer mechanisms and compliance strategies
- Evaluate privacy risks associated with new technologies and business initiatives
- Collaborate with clients to conduct privacy impact assessments
- Guide clients through regulatory audits and enforcement actions
- Develop training materials on data protection best practices
- Monitor changes in cybersecurity and privacy legislation
- Assist in structuring vendor agreements with appropriate data protection clauses
- Advise on consumer data rights and organizational obligations
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and due diligence processes involving data assets
- Work with technical teams to align legal requirements with system design
- Help implement privacy by design and default principles
- Respond to regulatory inquiries and enforcement notices
- Analyze emerging privacy frameworks such as AI governance and biometric data laws
- Ensure compliance with sector-specific regulations like HIPAA or FISMA
- Draft breach notification letters and regulatory reports
- Coordinate with international counsel on multi-jurisdictional privacy matters
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of enforcement trends and regulatory guidance
