Responsibilities
- Oversee and mentor a local data engineering team working on both platform infrastructure and analytics reporting.
- Manage team resourcing, lead recruitment efforts to expand the team, and define clear team missions aligned with evolving platform goals.
- Build a culture of excellence across geographically dispersed teams in Bangalore and Europe, integrating new members and enforcing operational rigor in incident response and on-call procedures.
- Drive long-term technical initiatives with complex dependencies, such as re-architecting the data lakehouse using Apache Flink on GKE, building a dedicated CTV late-impression pipeline, and automating CI/CD with ArgoCD, while ensuring compliance with architectural standards.
- Improve engineering practices including code quality, infrastructure-as-code, automated deployments, system observability, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Backend Engineering, Data Science, and Analytics teams to ensure data platform development supports business priorities.
- Maintain significant hands-on technical involvement (50–70%) including pipeline design, feature development, code and architecture reviews, tech debt resolution, and production issue debugging.
- Handle operational duties such as monitoring setup, on-call support, incident response, communication during outages, and conducting postmortems.
- Design and implement scalable, maintainable data architectures for both streaming and batch workloads, with active cost management of underlying infrastructure.
