Expedia Group is hiring a Data Engineer II to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will design, build, and support scalable and durable data solutions using cloud technologies in an agile environment. You will develop high-performance distributed systems and build efficient ETLs and data solutions for Display Advertising observability and LLM-driven tooling for Ad Tech Sales and Operations teams.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and support scalable and durable data solutions that enable self-service consumption use cases.
- Write clean, efficient, and thoroughly tested code.
- Develop scalable and highly-performant distributed systems, ensuring availability, monitoring, and resiliency.
- Work with business partners to flesh out and deliver on requirements in an agile manner.
- Evolve development standards and practices.
- Take architectural ownership for various critical components and systems.
- Proactively problem-solve at the organization level.
- Communicate and document solutions and design decisions.
- Build bridges between technical teams to enable valuable collaborations.
- Construct LLM-driven data solutions to provide insightful tooling for Ad Tech Sales/Operations teams.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 1 year of experience in data engineering or a related occupation.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Splunk, and Datadog.
- Proficiency with NoSQL and SQL databases.
- Programming skills in Java and Scala.
- Experience with orchestration tools like Apache Airflow and CI/CD with Github Actions.
