Stripe is hiring a Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering Solutions Team. You will be at the forefront of solving high-impact data problems, delivering scalable and reliable data pipelines that meet the needs of our users. In this role, you'll drive key data initiatives, collaborating across the company to ensure Stripe and our customers can access trustworthy, high-quality data.
What You'll Do
- Deliver scalable, reliable, and efficient data pipelines that meet user needs.
- Develop subject matter expertise and manage SLAs for critical data pipelines and full-stack applications.
- Collaborate with product managers and peers to improve canonical datasets and data warehouses.
- Leverage AI, LLMs, and Agents at scale to produce and analyze data for ambiguous problems.
- Drive the execution of key data initiatives, overseeing the development lifecycle from planning to delivery.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative work environment that promotes continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
- 2-5 years of hands-on experience building and operating data systems, pipelines, datasets, and warehouses.
- A strong engineering background with a passion for data.
- Experience writing and debugging data pipelines using a distributed data framework like Spark, Hadoop, or Trino.
- An inquisitive nature to dive into data inconsistencies, pinpoint issues, and resolve deep-rooted data quality problems.
- Knowledge of a backend language such as Scala, Java, or Go, and strong SQL skills.
- Extreme customer focus and a commitment to partnering with Product Managers, leaders, and engineers.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to think rigorously and communicate clearly.
- Ability to thrive with high autonomy and responsibility in an ambiguous environment.
- A commitment to fostering and working in a healthy, inclusive, and supportive team environment.
Nice to Have
- Expertise in Iceberg, Kafka, Change Data Capture, Flink, Spark, Airflow, Hive Metastore, Pinot, Trino, or AWS Cloud.
- Experience influencing open-source contributions.
- Experience creating and maintaining Data Marts or Warehouses for business reporting.
- Experience working with Product or Go-To-Market (Sales/Marketing) teams.
- A genuine enjoyment of innovation and a deep interest in understanding how things work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for audiences ranging from leadership to company-wide.
