As the Tier 2 escalation lead for network and cabling systems, you will ensure the reliability of AI-optimized datacenter environments by diagnosing and resolving physical layer issues. You'll lead on-site response to connectivity incidents, perform root cause analysis, and guide junior technicians to improve first-time resolution rates.
What You'll Do
- Act as the primary responder for escalated network and cabling incidents, including fiber breaks, transceiver failures, and patch panel faults
- Use fiber inspection scopes, optical power meters, and VFLs to identify, clean, and repair degraded or failed connections
- Validate repairs through connectivity tests, LLDP verification, and optical power readings
- Lead adoption of automated diagnostic tools by testing new systems, providing feedback, and driving on-site implementation
- Coordinate with infrastructure teams for complex cabling remediation and re-patching
- Document incidents with technical clarity and escalate to remote engineering when deeper investigation is needed
- Develop dashboards in ticketing systems using SQL and JQL to track team performance and workload trends
- Share insights across regional teams to standardize troubleshooting practices and reduce repeat failures
- Mentor Tier 1 technicians in network triage to minimize unnecessary escalations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of site topology and cabling layouts to speed fault isolation
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years in datacenter operations with hands-on experience in fiber cabling, patch systems, or network hardware support
- Proven skill with fiber testing tools: power meters, light sources, VFLs, and inspection scopes
- Familiarity with single-mode and multi-mode fiber, connector types, and acceptable optical thresholds
- Understanding of structured cabling standards and best practices for fault resolution
- Ability to interpret interface diagnostics such as link status, light levels, and neighbor discovery protocols
- Strong written communication for clear incident reporting and remote team coordination
- Willingness to relocate to an assigned datacenter site
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using OTDR for precise fiber fault location
- BICSI Installer 1 or 2 certification
- CCNA or equivalent networking credential
- Background supporting GPU clusters, HPC, or AI/ML infrastructure
- Experience with DCIM platforms and cabling documentation systems
- Previous work in tiered support environments with defined escalation paths
- Knowledge of high-speed optics (100G, 400G, 800G) and transceiver types
- Experience querying operational data using SQL or JQL for dashboard creation
- Familiarity with Arista, Juniper, Sonic, or Cisco CLI and operating systems
Benefits
- Competitive salary and equity in the form of stock options
- Retirement or pension plan aligned with local standards
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
- Generous paid time off policy, consistent with regional norms
