BHG Financial is hiring a Copado Release Lead

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate full lifecycle release planning across multiple Salesforce environments such as Development, UAT, Staging, and Production.
  • Establish and manage release timelines, key milestones, and align sprint outputs with Agile/Scrum delivery rhythms.
  • Oversee all release-related tasks, epics, and work items in Jira, ensuring boards, backlogs, and roadmaps remain current and accurate.
  • Coordinate with developers, administrators, QA teams, architects, and business partners to confirm release scope and deployment readiness.
  • Prioritize and manage user story promotions, resolve obstacles, and escalate risks proactively.
  • Assess potential downstream effects of upcoming releases and surface concerns early to prevent deployment issues.
  • Own the complete sandbox refresh process across all Salesforce environments.
  • Develop and maintain a Sandbox Refresh Calendar in Jira, scheduling refreshes ahead of time to reduce impact on development and testing.
  • Engage stakeholders before each refresh to verify readiness, identify active work at risk, and communicate blackout periods clearly.
  • Coordinate post-refresh actions such as data masking, configuration recovery, app re-authorization, and integration updates.
  • Track and manage sandbox-specific dependencies like custom settings, named credentials, and external endpoints to ensure consistent restoration.
  • Maintain a detailed Sandbox Inventory in Jira, listing each sandbox’s purpose, branch alignment, refresh frequency, and owner.
  • Challenge teams with critical questions about current builds, potential data loss, and testing windows prior to refreshes.
  • Regularly assess sandbox health and recommend adjustments to refresh frequency based on evolving release needs.
  • Work with Copado Admins to revalidate sandbox connections and pipeline configurations after refreshes.
  • Lead a small team of Release Support Specialists handling daily promotion tasks, sandbox coordination, and Jira maintenance.
  • Assign tasks, set priorities, and conduct regular stand-ups to keep the team aligned and unblocked.
  • Serve as the escalation point for the team when facing release blockers, merge conflicts, or environment issues.
  • Participate actively in CAB meetings, representing the release team and advocating for deployment readiness.
  • Prepare and present CAB change requests with scope, risk analysis, rollback plans, and testing evidence.
  • Ensure all CAB submissions are fully documented in Jira with clear traceability and sufficient detail.
  • Raise clarifying questions in CAB when scope, timelines, or risks are unclear to prevent ambiguity in production.
  • Maintain and enforce a CAB readiness checklist in Jira, validating all deployments meet criteria before submission.
  • Collaborate with Change and Compliance teams to keep CAB templates and governance policies up to date.
  • Administer and optimize Copado CI/CD pipelines across all environments, including Metadata and Source Format Pipelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Salesforce delivery, including at least 3 years in a Release Manager or Lead role.

  • Proven track record with both Copado Metadata Pipeline (Classic) and/or Source Format Pipeline (2nd Gen).
  • Solid understanding of Salesforce Metadata API and SFDX/source format principles.
  • Direct experience managing sandboxes, including refresh planning, stakeholder coordination, and post-refresh recovery.
  • Demonstrated involvement in or facilitation of CAB meetings and change request preparation.
  • Proficient in using Jira for release tracking, sandbox scheduling, sprint planning, backlog management, and CAB tracking.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum frameworks, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
  • Familiarity with Git fundamentals: commits, merges, conflict resolution, and pull requests.
  • Experience setting up and monitoring Copado DevOps Analytics metrics like lead time and change fail rate.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot failed deployments, merge conflicts, and pipeline errors.
  • Proven experience leading small technical teams, including mentoring and task delegation.
  • Naturally proactive and inquisitive, consistently asking questions to prevent issues before they occur.

  • Understanding of CI/CD concepts beyond Copado, such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
  • Experience supporting multi-org, multi-cloud Salesforce environments including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud.
