Ford is hiring a Controls Engineering Specialist to join our manufacturing team. You will be responsible for the troubleshooting, programming, and coordination of automation systems to ensure efficient and reliable production.
What You'll Do
- Use Vis Plant monitoring software to review automation cycle times and follow up on projects and installations.
- Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems.
- Update program backups for automation systems.
- Program new installations of Body tooling and conveyor systems.
- Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements.
- Coordinate automation campaigns.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of Controls Engineering experience (internship and co-op experience will be considered).
- Fundamental working knowledge of PLC logic and controls (RSLogix).
- Electrical Background (electrician or technician) or related experience.
- Allen Bradley Panel View use/programming, AB Servo drives, and AB VFD drives.
- Fundamental working knowledge of Fanuc robots.
- Familiarity with VFDs, Armor starts, encoders, and network/Ethernet controls.
- Ability to work rotating shifts and hours, including days, nights, and weekends.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including 8Ds, FMEAs, and DMAICs.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot all body equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for quality and delivery improvements.
- Fanuc robot and Kawasaki programming experience.
- RS Logics and Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Ability to read prints, use AutoCAD, and interpret/modify electrical schematics.
- Experience with laser burning.
- Strong understanding of conveyor system programming, body tooling techniques, and networking (DH+, Ethernet, Remote IO).
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Simulation modeling exposure.
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience, including tools like 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping.
- DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience.
- TQM and Kaizen Methods experience.
- FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience.
- Visual Factory Management experience.
