YLD is hiring a Contract Software Engineer (Python)

YLD is looking for a Contract Software Engineer (Python) to shape innovative products and deliver high-quality software. As a senior member of a client team, you’ll be responsible for crafting scalable, resilient architectures and championing strong engineering practices while working within Agile (Scrum) methodologies.

What You'll Do

• Build new features that directly address client and customer needs.
• Collaborate closely with your team on engineering initiatives.
• Own production operation and monitoring of products, ensuring they meet SLAs.
• Drive good engineering practices within your team, influencing the wider department.
• Participate in regular showcases to promote your team's work.

What We're Looking For

• Experience with modern frameworks across the stack, such as FastAPI, Gin, or Express.
• Proven ability building modern data pipelines using tools like dbt, Kafka, Spark, AWS Kinesis, AWS Lambda, or Apache Airflow.
• Hands-on experience with data lakes and platforms like Spark or Databricks.
• Comprehensive testing experience (unit, integration, e2e, security) and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of scalable system design patterns, load balancing, and high-availability architectures.
• Proficiency in database design and data modeling for both relational and NoSQL systems.
• Understanding of common data transformation and storage formats, such as Apache Parquet.
• Experience with API development (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with caching strategies and message queue systems like Redis, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of monitoring, observability, and performance optimization tools.
• Ability to calmly debug and resolve production issues.
• Problem-solving skills that balance innovation with pragmatic technology choices.
• Comfort working in a dynamic production environment and managing client expectations.
• A distinct customer focus and quality mindset.
• Experience working closely with engineering leadership and architects to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Experience maintaining a high degree of ownership and transparency in deliverables.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas simply.
