Responsibilities
- Work with service owners, network specialists, developers, and leadership to align on cloud infrastructure strategies for provisioning, monitoring, operations, and issue resolution.
- Contribute to the planning and structure of hybrid, multi-cloud systems with an emphasis on secure and resilient network foundations.
- Develop and implement advanced automation and infrastructure-as-code methods to simplify deployment and management of new and existing infrastructure.
- Partner with scientists, researchers, and software developers to assess workload requirements and guide adoption of cloud-native platforms.
- Create and sustain technical documentation such as architecture diagrams, operational runbooks, and sample implementation code.
- Maintain current knowledge of evolving hybrid network designs and standard industry practices.
- Explain technical solutions clearly to both technical teams and non-technical decision-makers.
- Carry out additional assigned tasks as needed.
- Independently establish, rank, and advance the networking strategy for integrated multi-cloud and data center environments, turning high-level goals into actionable designs and milestones.
- Deliver expert routed network designs across public cloud platforms and on-premises data centers, ensuring alignment with long-term reliability, security, and performance requirements.
- Apply deep understanding of BGP connectivity and routing policies—including path control, summarization, filtering, leak prevention, and failover—to ensure predictable behavior and avoid routing issues across stateful security layers.
Requirements
- Familiarity with cloud governance, operational management, and security protocols across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
- Proven background using Terraform for automation in complex, large-scale deployments such as environments with over 100 AWS accounts and thousands of VPCs.
- Capacity to work effectively with service owners, engineers, developers, and stakeholders to reach agreement on infrastructure approaches.
- Experience building and deploying automated systems and infrastructure-as-code solutions.
- Skill in writing and updating architectural records, operational guides, and demonstration scripts.
- Strong communication abilities for conveying technical solutions to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of hybrid network design principles and widely accepted industry standards.
Nice to Have
- Demonstrated ability to independently shape, prioritize, and drive technical strategies for networking across multi-cloud and on-prem data center environments.
- Advanced proficiency in routed network design across AWS, Azure, GCP, and on-prem facilities, including routing segmentation, domain boundaries, and failure zone planning.
- Extensive experience with BGP-based routing, including path selection, summarization, filtering, leak prevention, and deterministic failover mechanisms.
- Background in validating network convergence and addressing asymmetric routing challenges across stateful security enforcement points.
