About the Role
The role involves designing land development projects including site layout, stormwater management, grading, and utilities. The engineer will prepare plans and specifications, coordinate with survey and environmental teams, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Design site layouts for residential, commercial, and institutional developments
- Prepare civil engineering drawings and construction documents
- Conduct stormwater management and drainage analyses
- Perform grading and earthwork calculations
- Design potable water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater utility systems
- Support permitting efforts with local agencies
- Review land development regulations and zoning requirements
- Coordinate with surveyors and environmental specialists
- Participate in project meetings with clients and stakeholders
- Develop erosion and sediment control plans
- Use CAD or Civil 3D software for design and modeling
- Assist in cost estimating and construction budgeting
- Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs
- Conduct field observations during construction
- Ensure designs meet ADA and accessibility standards
- Apply sustainable design practices to development projects
- Support due diligence for property acquisitions
- Prepare preliminary engineering reports
- Work with planners and architects on integrated designs
- Manage multiple projects within deadlines
- Maintain accurate project documentation
- Use GIS tools to support site analysis
- Collaborate with transportation engineers on access design
- Stay current with engineering codes and standards
- Provide technical support during construction phases
