Responsibilities
- Prepare the OR (instruments, equipment, supplies)
- Assist surgeons/nurses by anticipating needs, passing instruments, and maintaining the sterile field
- Count items
- Handle specimens
- Assist with patient positioning
- Adhere strictly to aseptic technique
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program to include certification
- Surgical Technology training
- Earns 15 units of continued education every year as required by NBSTSA
- One year recent full time experience in an acute care facility as a certified surgical technologist
- May consider any experience in an ASC where procedures are performed that have the same acuity level or level of complexity as an acute care facility
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technologist in Surgery-Certified (TS-C)
- BLS-American Heart Association
Nice to Have
- One year recent full time experience in an acute care facility as a certified surgical technologist, to include experience with trauma and open heart
