The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides anesthesia care for surgical patients before, during, and after procedures, ensuring safe and effective outcomes. This role involves developing individualized anesthesia plans, administering various types of anesthesia, monitoring patient vitals, and collaborating with the surgical team.
What You'll Do
- Conduct comprehensive preoperative evaluations to assess patient medical history, physical condition, and anesthesia risks.
- Review laboratory results, imaging studies, and other diagnostic information to determine appropriate anesthesia plans.
- Develop and implement individualized anesthesia care plans based on patient needs and surgical requirements.
- Administer various forms of anesthesia, including general, regional, and local anesthesia.
- Continuously monitor patients’ vital signs and anesthesia depth during procedures.
- Manage airway and respiratory support as necessary throughout the surgical process.
- Provide care in the post-anesthesia recovery unit, monitoring patients’ recovery.
- Assess and manage any immediate postoperative complications or side effects related to anesthesia.
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
- The CRNA is responsible for routine maintenance and cleaning of anesthesia equipment.
