Responsibilities
- Work with physicians to assess patient needs for prosthetic or orthotic services and suggest treatment options when needed.
- Assess patient needs related to disease and functional loss.
- Create designs for prosthetic or orthotic devices.
- Choose materials, take cast measurements, modify models, and create layouts while incorporating new techniques and materials.
- Perform fittings, including static and dynamic alignments.
- Evaluate devices on patients and adjust to ensure proper fit, function, medical effectiveness, and work quality.
- Teach patients how to use prosthetic or orthotic devices.
- Identify and resolve issues to ensure patient satisfaction with provided devices.
- Conduct follow-up with patients and physicians.
- Provide in-service training to physicians and allied health professionals.
- Use effective materials management, quality, and performance processes to maximize device quality and medical effectiveness while balancing costs and operational or financial performance.
- Meet with physicians, case managers, and other referral sources to discuss prosthetic and orthotic services and capabilities; build and strengthen business relationships to secure ongoing and future referrals.
- Plan and implement strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets in coordination with management.
- Write detailed clinical notes for patient records.
- Mentor residents or newly certified clinicians as needed.
- Assist other clinical staff.
- Provide information to administrative staff for reimbursement activities.
- Follow all safety regulations, Medicare and other governmental regulations, and bloodborne and OSHA requirements.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
- May be required to take on-call duties, hospital calls, or float between multiple Hanger Clinic locations.
