About the Role
The contractor will monitor, interpret, and summarize legislative, political, and socioeconomic developments in Central American and Caribbean countries, providing timely and accurate research to support decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Track legislative changes and policy proposals in assigned countries
- Produce concise, well-structured research reports on political developments
- Translate official documents and media content from Spanish and Portuguese
- Identify emerging risks and opportunities in regional markets
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of government institutions and political actors
- Verify data accuracy using primary and secondary sources
- Meet deadlines for scheduled and ad hoc research deliverables
- Collaborate with editors and team leads to refine content
- Follow standardized research methodologies and quality guidelines
- Monitor news outlets, official gazettes, and parliamentary websites
- Summarize regulatory changes affecting business and investment climates
- Provide context on historical and institutional backgrounds
- Flag high-impact events for internal stakeholders
- Use digital tools to organize and submit research
- Respond to specific client inquiries when required
- Ensure neutrality and factual precision in all outputs
- Stay informed about regional election cycles and governance trends
- Conduct background research on political figures and agencies
- Adapt quickly to evolving regional dynamics
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Nice to Have
- Advanced degree in social sciences or law
- Professional experience in journalism or government
- Familiarity with legislative tracking software
- Experience writing for non-specialist audiences
- Knowledge of indigenous governance structures in the region
- Prior work with multilingual datasets
- Experience in forecasting political risk
