Whatnot is hiring a Category Associate, Japan

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep expertise in a designated product category, including understanding seller and buyer behaviors, community platforms, influencers, and product specifics
  • Act as the primary representative and point of contact for the seller and buyer community within the assigned category
  • Identify and engage potential sellers to onboard and scale their businesses on the platform
  • Promote the platform using social media, direct outreach, and in-person gatherings
  • Collaborate with new sellers and strategic partners to grow large-scale operations on the platform
  • Design and implement plans focused on expanding seller base to drive overall category growth
  • Lead marketing efforts including offline events and collaborations with influencers to support diverse sellers
  • Apply foundational data analysis techniques, including SQL, to evaluate project outcomes and streamline workflows
  • Use performance metrics to measure category progress, identify successes, and guide iterative improvements
