Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct initiatives for efficient financial resource management.
- Monitor financial effectiveness and efficiency of all units within the client portfolio or department, implementing changes as needed in consultation with leadership.
- Provide advice on applying financial policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and oversee the development and implementation of financial systems, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with portfolio or department leadership to develop short- and long-range financial plans that align with strategic goals.
- Manage the coordination and review of annual budgets, quarterly variance analysis, and forecasting for all units.
- Act as liaison between the portfolio or department and Finance on all financial matters.
- Provide financial advice, support, and assistance to portfolio or department staff.
- Offer strategic direction and guidance to portfolio or department leaders.
- Lead the development and management of all financial reporting requirements, from transactional details to summarized management reports.
- Monitor existing internal controls and ensure they operate effectively, reviewing them continuously to maximize efficiency and mitigate risks.
- Contribute to strategic planning and direction for the portfolio or department.
- Serve as a member of the portfolio or department leadership team, participating in strategic, budget, resource, and staffing processes.
- Provide strategic advice to units on effective and efficient use of financial resources consistent with organizational objectives.
- Develop key objectives and tactics to meet strategic objectives, linking financial goals with departmental planning and operations.
- Identify and research issues and coordinate their resolution.
- Work closely with portfolio or department leaders on special projects and sensitive or confidential projects by identifying issues, researching, strategizing, developing, presenting, and implementing recommendations, and delivering related communication.
- Establish best practices and develop capacity across the portfolio or department.
- Provide finance-related mentoring and education for staff.
- Participate in the development and delivery of campus-wide training initiatives.
- Act as a thought partner to leaders.
- Work with all stakeholders to build consensus in planning processes and initiatives.
- Establish relevant financial indicators for each unit and monitor their performance.
- Supervise the Accounting Analyst, including assignment of duties, health and safety, orientation, training, staff development, recognition, performance management, evaluation, scheduling, prioritization, and in consultation with the Associate Director, complete recruitment, selection, and disciplinary action as required.
- Lead, guide, and motivate staff to maintain high performance standards and customer satisfaction levels.
