Reddit is hiring a Backend Engineer for its Feeds Experience team. You will be responsible for one of the highest-traffic pages on the platform: the Feed pages on the Reddit apps and website. You'll work at immense scale, helping hundreds of millions of users explore Reddit and providing them with excellent feeds.
What You'll Do
- Build and operate a high-caliber, inclusive team of engineers.
- Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to build novel products and features.
- Work alongside a team of engineers, contribute to standards, recommend best practices, and help mentor engineers.
- Participate in the full development cycle: design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
- Be a key driver in the planning, development, and implementation across Reddit’s backend service architecture for native mobile and web clients.
- Enable a culture of metrics-led execution, with a focus on operational excellence and system observability.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience as a software engineer developing user-facing applications.
- Fluency working with product metrics, designing and analyzing experiments with exposure to tools like BigQuery, HEX, Firebase.
- Software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages; e.g. Python, Go, Swift, Kotlin, Rust, Java, C++.
- Experience leveraging GenAI tools to increase software engineering productivity.
- Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule.
- BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong focus on user experience and usability.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action.
- Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate with teams in a fully remote environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with ML engineering teams and integrating ML solutions.
- Experience with social or e-commerce platforms is a huge plus.

- Compensation: $164,200 - $229,900 USD + equity in the form of restricted stock units.
