Deel is hiring a Backend Engineer to join a team building the infrastructure for the future of work. You will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, and maintaining applications, collaborating closely with other functions to deliver exceptional products.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate in a cross-functional team with Frontend Engineers, Product Teams, Designers, and QA professionals.
- Participate in product planning throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle.
- Develop and enhance features, APIs, and continuously improve products.
- Provide an exceptional, customer-centric experience through quality engineering.
What We're Looking For
- Strong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript/JavaScript best practices.
- Experience in at least one other server-side language.
- Expertise in SQL, particularly PostgreSQL, including query optimization, data migrations, and database modeling.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.
- Experience designing systems for scalability.
- Proven expertise in optimizing systems for large transaction volumes, handling concurrency, idempotency, and performance under load.
- Skilled in building APIs, including input validation, JWT tokens, and ensuring security & scalability through queue-based systems.
- At least 4 years of experience as a Software Engineer.
- Excel in a remote-first environment with proactive communication and strong asynchronous collaboration skills.
- Communicate complex ideas easily to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have
- Experience with SaaS products running 24/7 on major cloud vendors.
- Familiarity with serverless architecture on AWS.
- Knowledge of the FinTech industry and its unique challenges.
