Responsibilities
- Create detailed designs and documentation for secondary electrical systems used in transmission and distribution infrastructure.
- Develop protection and control system designs, including relay configurations, protective schemes, and interlocking logic for substation applications.
- Produce single line diagrams, protection logic schematics, metering plans, and cable termination drawings.
- Generate electrical interconnection schematics, termination layouts, cable schedules, and auxiliary documentation to support system installation and operation.
- Conduct relay coordination analyses covering overcurrent, earth fault, motor protection, and distance protection, including relay setting calculations and fault simulations.
- Perform power system studies such as load flow, short circuit evaluation, transient stability, motor starting behavior, and arc flash hazard assessments.
- Design control and relay panel layouts, including general arrangement drawings, functional block diagrams, and associated bills of materials.
- Develop SCADA communication architectures and integrate protection systems to ensure reliable control-to-field device interoperability.
- Review and validate design deliverables for adherence to applicable industry standards, including IEC and IEEE, as well as utility-specific requirements.
- Provide technical support during commissioning phases, including participation in factory acceptance tests and field-level system integration.
- Formulate logic algorithms to enhance system performance, including fault identification, relay coordination optimization, and stability improvements.
- Coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of secondary systems within primary substation infrastructure.
- Prepare external connection matrices, cable schedules, and supplementary design documents in accordance with project-specific criteria.
