Responsibilities

  • Retrieve and examine data from multiple sources such as relational databases (e.g., mySQL, postgres), big data platforms (e.g., BigQuery, Kudu, Impala, SingleStore, Hive), file formats (e.g., parquet, ORC, avro, csv, xlsx), and reporting tools (e.g., Looker, DOMO).
  • Support the development, identification, and upkeep of core datasets.
  • Engage in efforts to uphold data governance standards and practices.
  • Process and transform data to maintain accuracy and reliability in reporting.
  • Assist in defining technical requirements for new data structures such as marts, tables, views, and cubes.
  • Examine source systems to uncover embedded business rules within datasets.
  • Apply statistical methods to detect trends, patterns, and meaningful insights in data.
  • Detect and report data quality problems and validation gaps in live datasets.
  • Develop visual representations and dashboards based on direction from team leads and stakeholder needs.
  • Design and manage dashboards and reports that serve business requirements.
  • Conduct on-demand data assessments to evaluate data source suitability for reporting or KPI tracking.
  • Present insights and suggestions clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
