Gray Construction is hiring an Assistant Project Manager, MEP to support its Manufacturing team based in Charlotte, NC. This role is central to managing the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) aspects of design-build construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on scope, schedule, and budget.
What You'll Do
- Research, analyze, and calculate data from customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility.
- Participate in the estimating process and analyze subcontractor proposals to confirm criteria are satisfied.
- Participate in negotiations and awarding of contracts with subcontractors and vendors.
- Review construction documents and installed work from subcontractors to confirm compliance with scope.
- Coordinate design and engineering efforts; monitor and report on the project's financial status.
- Participate in job progress scheduling to ensure construction parallels the project's MEP schedule.
- Purchase and monitor delivery of all required materials for the project's MEP divisions.
- Review and approve subcontractor and vendor payment requests.
- Work with design and engineering managers to ensure projects follow guidelines.
- Visit job sites as needed to review progress and quality, with possible required relocation during MEP construction.
- Work with the overall Project Manager to verify the monthly Red File report for the MEP.
- Review shop drawings and submittals for scope compliance.
- Communicate, implement, and enforce Gray’s safety program on site.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree or a minimum of one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination.
- Professional registration is required.
- Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications.
- Ability to utilize programs for calculating loads and performing cost analysis.
- Knowledge of either the mechanical, piping, or electrical trades.
