Aspen Skiing Company is hiring an Assistant Patrol Director - Aspen Mountain

Responsibilities

  • Support the Patrol Director in managing daily mountain operations alongside department supervisors and leads, ensuring patrollers understand and execute their job duties.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve guest experience by proactively engaging with guests on the mountain.
  • Inspect all open terrain to confirm it meets safety standards before and during operating hours.
  • Provide medical care and coordinate transportation for injured skiers and riders as needed, following company risk-management protocols.
  • Support snow safety activities and avalanche control operations as required, and perform routine trail maintenance including openings and closures.
  • Evaluate patroller performance throughout the season, assist with staffing decisions such as hiring and termination, and ensure accurate payroll processing, completion of ASC training, and scheduling support as needed.
  • Participate in lift evacuations and emergency response procedures as required.
  • Coordinate with other departments on issues and events affecting mountain operations, and liaise with government agencies as needed.
  • Lead or delegate staff training and evaluations, provide performance coaching as needed, and ensure timely completion of related documentation.
  • Deliver clear and timely operational communication to all patrol staff.
  • Collaborate with the Patrol Director to plan and manage the department budget, track spending, and update job descriptions annually.
