About the Role
The role involves working directly with customers to understand their manufacturing needs, translating designs into production-ready specifications, and guiding them through the selection of appropriate CNC and sheet metal processes.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients to assess part designs for manufacturability
- Review engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Provide expert guidance on material selection and machining methods
- Support quoting by analyzing geometric complexity and tolerances
- Identify potential design improvements for cost and efficiency
- Communicate technical constraints and recommendations clearly
- Work with internal teams to resolve production challenges
- Ensure designs meet CNC and sheet metal process capabilities
- Assist in validating toolpaths and setup requirements
- Respond to customer inquiries about lead times and feasibility
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of machining technologies
- Document technical feedback for process improvement
- Troubleshoot discrepancies between design intent and manufacturability
- Guide customers on proper tolerancing and feature design
- Evaluate first-article inspection reports
- Support quality assurance through technical review
- Stay current with industry standards and best practices
- Assist in developing internal engineering guidelines
- Participate in cross-functional engineering discussions
- Contribute to customer onboarding and training materials
- Monitor production performance for continuous improvement
- Facilitate communication between sales and manufacturing teams
- Assist in resolving post-quote technical issues
- Ensure compliance with technical documentation standards
- Provide feedback on design for assembly and serviceability
Nice to Have
- Experience with multi-axis CNC programming
- Knowledge of laser cutting and bending processes
- Familiarity with inspection equipment and methods
- Background in aerospace or medical manufacturing
- Certification in manufacturing or GD&T
- Experience with PLM or PDM systems
- Exposure to automated quoting platforms
- Project management experience in engineering services
