SMG Swiss Marketplace Group is looking for an Android Engineer to join the team building the Ricardo Android app. You will own features end-to-end in a modern Kotlin-first codebase using Jetpack Compose, shape technical architecture, and collaborate closely in a small, senior-leaning team that values quality and ships fast.
What You'll Do
- Build features end-to-end from technical design to production, with real ownership.
- Shape the architecture, contributing to decisions on data layer, state management, and modularization.
- Review and be reviewed, giving and receiving honest feedback in code reviews.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, iOS, and Backend teams.
- Improve the existing codebase, helping to drive forward a Compose migration in progress.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years building production Android apps in Kotlin.
- Experience with Jetpack Compose, having shipped real features, not just tutorials.
- Solid understanding of clean architecture, knowing why layers exist and when to break the rules.
- Experience building or significantly evolving a data layer (Repository pattern, caching, error handling).
- Ability to explain your design choices to teammates, in PRs, or in interviews.
- Good English proficiency, as it is the team's working language.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Kotlin Coroutines & Flows for concurrency.
- Familiarity with REST API design or backend-for-frontend patterns.
- Contributions to open-source or side projects that show your craft.
