Hitachi Energy Sweden AB is seeking an AI Lead Engineer to shape the vision and establish foundational capabilities for our new AI Center of Competence. In this hands-on leadership role, you will deliver early AI pilots to create tangible value for engineers and project teams, combining technical depth with strong stakeholder engagement.
What You'll Do
- Establish the AI Center of Competence from the ground up, defining mission, operating model, governance framework, and technical standards.
- Deliver measurable engineering productivity gains within the first year by executing 2–3 high impact AI pilots (e.g., documentation automation, design knowledge retrieval).
- Translate engineering pain points into deployable AI solutions by working hands-on with civil, mechanical, electrical, controls, and software teams.
- Build AI-ready data foundations for long term scale by advancing data ownership, metadata standards, lineage tracking, and access control.
- Bridge strategy and execution in industrial AI adoption, acting as a trusted advisor to engineering leadership and leading prototyping and deployment.
- Shape the future of intelligent engineering at scale, defining the roadmap beyond initial pilots.
What We're Looking For
- Strong expertise in applied AI and machine learning, with proven experience designing and deploying AI solutions in enterprise environments.
- Depth in Generative AI, LLMs, NLP, and document intelligence.
- Experience building production grade AI systems, including data pipelines, model development, MLOps practices, and deployment on modern cloud platforms.
- Understanding of engineering or industrial environments, with exposure to domains such as power systems, mechanical, electrical, controls, or automation.
- Experience working with complex engineering systems and data, including tools like PLM, ERP, CAD/CAE, or large scale document management environments.
- Strong stakeholder leadership and influence, with ability to collaborate across engineering, IT, and leadership teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build from zero, comfortable operating in ambiguous environments.
