Responsibilities
- Develop algorithms for assigning cargo to transport units based on spatial and logistical constraints.
- Model limitations involving size, mass, item compatibility, order of operations, and equipment utilization.
- Optimize the tradeoff between solution quality, processing time, and real-world applicability.
- Apply and refine heuristic or deterministic methods to solve complex packing challenges.
- Adapt solutions to function efficiently across large vehicle fleets and fluctuating input data.
- Assess performance across accuracy, speed, and interpretability of algorithmic outputs.
- Oversee the collection and integrity of data inputs such as vehicle specs and cargo availability.
- Clean, standardize, and curate datasets used in packing and allocation logic.
- Handle exceptional scenarios and missing information with robust fallback strategies.
- Connect packing system outputs to downstream logistics processes like replenishment and route planning.
- Collaborate with operational teams to confirm physical viability of proposed configurations.
- Test and refine solutions using simulated scenarios and field feedback.
- Ensure automated planning outputs respect hard constraints and cannot override feasibility checks.
