Trupanion is seeking an Actuarial Intern to support our actuarial team during a 12-week summer 2026 internship. In this role, you'll assist with recurring and ad-hoc reports and analyses, learn key actuarial techniques in pricing and reserving, and collaborate with actuaries and other departments. This internship offers hands-on experience and exposure to actuarial science within a fast-growing, pet-focused company culture.
What You'll Do
- Assists in gathering and manipulating data, performing calculations, and producing reports
- Learn the product design and actively participate in team meetings and department initiatives
- Learn different actuarial techniques in pricing, reserving and other analysis
- Develop and use databases, spreadsheets, and computer programming to fulfill requests
- Build tools and reports for validation, competitive analysis, tracking, auditing, reserving, and pricing
- Maintain and/or improve monthly and quarterly reporting processes and procedures such as experience reports, DOI data, and reporting requests
- Present a final project to the VP of Actuarial Services and other members of the Actuarial teams
What We're Looking For
- Pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent verbal, written, and data presentation skills
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to effectively manage multiple or changing priorities
- Highly driven and motivated to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Flexibility to work both independently and in a team environment
Nice to Have
- Preferred completion of one or more actuarial exams
- SQL and/or statistical coding experience is a plus
