Responsibilities
- Deliver crisis assistance to individuals reaching out to the National Suicide Prevention helpline and 988 helpline
- Log into helpline applications
- Handle incoming contacts of various crisis types, which may include phone calls, text messages, or chat sessions
- Provide details about available resources such as homeless shelters, food pantries, mental health services, and substance use treatment facilities
- Use de-escalation methods to support individuals in crisis
- Coordinate with emergency medical services or police to facilitate active rescues when necessary
- Communicate effectively with individuals in real time while accurately documenting interactions in required systems
- Perform follow-ups to confirm successful access to services
- Work alongside Shift Supervisors and other crisis line staff to offer or receive support
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality while carrying out all duties
- Uphold strict confidentiality in every task performed
