Since its founding in 1885, the organization has delivered basic necessities to individuals and families in need, focusing on children and youth. NGA believes clothing is a basic human right and that every child deserves the dignity and self-confidence that comes with new clothes.
The organization operates through a network of 15 community branches across seven states, distributing new clothing and essential items to schools and agencies. NGA partners with manufacturers, retailers, and community organizations to source quality new clothing at low or no cost, ensuring equitable access without stigma.
NGA also responds to national crises, natural disasters, and economic hardships, providing support beyond its ongoing programs. The organization emphasizes that new clothes equalize, while used clothes pauperize, reflecting its foundational belief in dignity through new clothing.
