Namdeb is a wholly owned subsidiary of Namdeb Holdings (Proprietary) Limited, which is owned in equal shares (50:50) by the Government of the Republic of Namibia and De Beers Group. The company performs land-based prospecting (exploration), mining, and rehabilitation operations and services for Namdeb Holdings.
The heart of its operations is along the southwest coast of Namibia, with land-based activities centered around Oranjemund and additional operations near Lüderitz and along the Orange River. Diamond exploration and mining take place along the south-west coast, offshore in shallow waters, and inland areas of Namibia’s //Karas Region.
Namdeb is renowned for its innovative mining methods, including extending the coastline by depositing sand into the sea to access diamond reserves.
