The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Thailand is the leading intergovernmental organization within the UN system, dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration since 1951. As part of the global IOM network, IOM Thailand works closely with the Royal Thai Government and various partners to support safe, humane, and orderly migration management.
Its work focuses on saving lives and protecting people on the move, driving solutions to displacement, and facilitating regular migration pathways. IOM Thailand aligns its goals with national priorities, including the National Economic and Social Development Plan, to foster an inclusive society that respects migrant rights and addresses migration challenges such as trafficking and smuggling.
The organization provides critical services including migration health assessments, emergency preparedness, and humanitarian assistance. It also engages in data collection, research, and policy development to guide evidence-based migration practices and strengthen regional cooperation in Southeast Asia.
Through targeted campaigns, partnerships, and capacity-building initiatives, IOM Thailand advocates for migrants’ rights, supports crisis response efforts, and promotes responsible migration governance across the region.
