Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network is the nonprofit organ procurement organization (OPO) that coordinates organ and tissue donation and services to families of donors in the northern three-quarters of Illinois and northwest Indiana.
Since 1986, Gift of Hope has saved more than 30,000 lives through organ donation and helped hundreds of thousands of patients receive donated tissue. The organization works with over 180 hospitals, eye banks, forensic professionals, and transplant centers to manage the recovery, care, and transportation of donated organs and tissues.
Headquartered in Itasca, Illinois, with offices in Chicago and Springfield, Gift of Hope serves one of the largest and busiest donation service areas in the United States. The organization partners with hospitals, funeral service providers, and medical examiners to ensure a compassionate and respectful donation process.
In 2018, Gift of Hope established the Gift of Hope Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to raise funds supporting its mission. The organization also launched the nation’s first Organ Donor Care Center in partnership with Rush University Medical Center to improve transplant outcomes and relieve pressure on hospital ICUs.
