Apify was launched in 2015 by Jan Čurn and Jakub Balada from the Y Combinator Fellowship in California. The original idea was to make it easy for developers to build flexible and scalable web crawlers using front-end JavaScript and headless browser technology.
The company moved back to Prague in 2016 and evolved into a full-stack platform for web scraping and browser automation. Apify helps people get more value from the web by automating mundane tasks and enabling access to public web data for AI, research, and business intelligence.
